Kate Bancroft - Academic Resource Teacher
I grew up outside New York City and after I said I would never live in Vermont, attended Champlain College. I graduated in 2015 with a degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. I spent a few years working as a nanny, substitute teacher and a camp counselor in New York before moving back to Burlington to work at Howard Center. During my time there I gained valuable experience working with students who presented with significant behavioral challenges.
In 2022, I married my former fourth grade classmate. I knew we’d want to start a family someday and felt a new job would better support our goals. That’s when I found St. Francis and became the second Academic Resource Teacher. In the summer of 2023, we welcomed our son and while being his mom is the best job I could have, I also love being able to work at St. Francis. The people we have met through the school are the most incredible, kind and supportive people. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my first year of teaching fourth grade!
Outside of school, I am often playing outside, reading or doing art with my toddler. On the rare occasion he is sleeping, I like to read, listen to audiobooks, and watch tv.
