Mrs. Jennifer Parent - Middle School Math

I was born and raised in St. Albans, Vermont. I graduated from Castleton State College with a bachelor's degree in Natural Sciences in 1994. I worked as a Microbiologist until I made the decision to stay home and raise my children. I live in Essex Junction with my husband Richard and 3 of our 4 daughters.  Our oldest daughter lives in Montreal and attends McGill University.

I volunteered in my daughters’ classrooms for 10 years and then began to substitute teach in their schools. I enjoyed my assignment so much with the special educators and working with the small groups of students that I decided to return to school and get my teaching license. I completed the TAP program at Champlain College 2019-2020. I did my student teaching in Essex Junction and had a long term substitute teaching job before I finished my program. Over the two years after receiving my license, I have taught remotely, hybrid, back to remote and then finally back to 5 days a week in person.  The second time that I taught remotely I was the only Science teacher for the 6th, 7th and 8th grade at EWSD’s Remote Academy.

This past year I worked with the math department at my previous school to add my math endorsement to my current teaching license.  I was an assistant in the 7th and 8th grade math classroom and I had a small group of math students and an individual student that I worked with on a regular basis on either basic skills or previewing lessons.

I am very excited to join the SFX school  community this fall.  I know it will be a great fit for me and will enrich my Catholic faith.  I look forward to meeting you all and helping in the journey of educating your children.
